I was doing a bit of bike spotting out of my new window at work today, and something made me smile. It seems a couple of our friendly bike couriers have donned the old Rosebank Stackhat. I think we were in Grade 3 when our parent were encouraged to get us all one. I loved my old Stackhat for about the first half hour. I thought we looked a bit “Tron” in them. Then Matt and I headbutted each other until my inner foam cracked…. Good times. We soon disovered they became extremely hot and heavy in summer and generally pretty uncool. As soon as I was out of sight from Mum, it would spend the rest of it’s life stashed in a bush somewhere near home.
They do look pretty cool and retro today on the couriers. Although I haven’t seen an orange one yet. Classic white, all the way…
Did you all have Stackhats back in the day, and if you did, which colour?

I could watch that replay all day long…

… even though we played a mostly under 23 Bahrain team, right in the middle of Ramadan.

How warm was it on Tuesday night? Winter’s really behind us now. I met up with Adamm for another night ride at Lysterfield, and could finally retire the long sleeves and leg warmers for the year. I didn’t count on the humidity and only half filled my camelback with water, only to run out before the last few climbs back to the car. That won’t happen again.
It wasn’t the only hiccup. We enjoyed a spectacular light show when Adam’s mate’s homemade light set shorted out after reconnecting it on the trail. We watched the sparks run down the wire to his battery, igniting it briefly before he could get his boot to it. It was reconnected and mounted back on his bike without any problems and it didn’t miss a beat after that. He even had the brightest light by the end of the night, with our batteries getting low. Inexpensive and hardy.
